CLASSIC RE-ISSUE Originally released in 1994, Manilow holds the title of biggest-selling Half A Cow record as it was also released in UK by Domino and labels in Canada and Japan. Featuring the songwriting talent of guitarist Tom Morgan, along with bassist Adam Yee and drummer Alison 'Galfunk' Galloway, it's 21 songs of fast-paced innercity fuzzy-pop. Expanded to a two-disc set with six acoustic Tom demos (worth the admission alone) and eleven Triple J live-at-the-wireless tracks. Includes 28 page booklet with liner notes by producer Nic Dalton, review clippings and fans/fellow musician's 'Manilow Memories'.
DELETED. Available as an iTunes download.
DELETED. Available as an iTunes download. Second single taken from You, Me, Carpark...Now (hac58). Track 1 and 2 have been remixed with new vocals. All other tracks previously unreleased. Track 4 is a cover of a Mike Nesmith song.
AUGUST 2008: Currently out of stock available as iTunes download only Some say this is the best Smudge album.
Lifted from their third proper album, Real McCoy Wrong Sinatra, 'Eighteen In A Week' is a bouncin', two and a bit minutes of smudgin' pop backed by four new tracks including a full band version of 'Real McCoy Wrong Sinatra'. The third proper track, 'Gutless Wonder', reveals the dark underbelly of the Smudge world hinted at on the album on tracks like 'Jo Jo & The Guts' and 'I Was Born To Change The World'. 'Nothing To Lose' and companion track 'And Plenty To Prove' show that, yes, even Smudge don't know exactly what is going on sometimes. Hold on, I think you would call it experimental. The unlisted 'Outdoor Type' was recorded from a house in Annandale while Smudge were playing the Homebake Festival at Sydney University - 2.5 kilometres away!
DELETED. English import of the original version of The Outdoor Type. Tracks 1 & 2 from Manilow (hac26). Tracks 3, 4 & 5 also appear on Mo Poontang (hac62).
DELETED Side 1 from Manilow. Side 2 previously unreleased version of John Hiatt's hit song. Both songs feature Evan Dando.
Released for the U.K only (after the band's debut single on HAC was made Single Of The Week in NME) with Foccacia replaced by two extra tracks recorded specially for (Dabble & Spawn) this single.
DELETED. Canadian import with tracks 1 & 2 from Manilow (hac26). Tracks 3 & 4 also appear on Mo Poontang compilation. Track 5, a Suzi Quatro cover, previously unreleased.
27 track compilation of Smudge songs from 1991-1998. First ever complete Smudge ‘best of’ compilation. Includes the classic ‘Don’t Want To Be Grant McLennan’, ‘The Outdoor Type’, ‘Tenderfoot’ and ‘Divan’ (as made famous by Evan Dando’s Lemonheads). Bet you knew that anyway! The compilation has been put together by long-time Smudge associate Nic Dalton (who produced half the songs) and includes a mammoth full-colour 36 page booklet with all the information you’ll ever need to know about Smudge. Smudge band members Tom Morgan, Alison Galloway and Adam Yee write their thoughts on each of the 27 songs. It is an incredible package! Smudge are playing a handful of shows in the UK and Spain in late May 2010. Fire Records in the UK will be licensing the two Smudge albums Manilow and Real McCoy, Wrong Sinatra for release in UK and Europe in late May so there will a bit of a buzz around Smudge at this time. Available at the Smudge shows or ask you local record store to order it in via Shock or Rocket export if outside Australia, from MGM distribution (from July 2010) in Australia or direct from Half A Cow.
