The very first Demo Of The Week back in October 2001 was a band from Brisbane called Halfway. Nic was handed the demo at a Sneeze show at Ric's Cafe and, as there was no info provided, we knew nothing about the band. Well, we do now. And they're an extremely patient bunch. Their new demo has its genesis in their first one, as a few of the songs make a reappearance. In the meanime, the lineup has expanded to an eight piece, a banjo has appeared, the tempos slowed down a bit, the harmonicae more constant and the chequered shirts have gotten a bit more faded and worn. We commented on the country feel of the first demo and here we have to shout about the country feel - as it's pretty much country-rock all the way. They cite influences such as the usual suspects Gram Parsons, Byrds, Townes, Gene Clark, Bob Dylan and more modern ones like Flaming Lips, Lambchop and Sparklehorse. We suspect that these twelve tracks will be released sometime during 2004 so look out for it. -SH
